PRESS RELEASE Vaduz, Principality of Liechtenstein – May 25, 2026
The first public auction of Vaduz-based brand Lian Original has concluded. All three lots were sold. Two of the lots were sold above their estimated value. Total hammer prices reached CHF 13’550, a strong debut on the international auction market. The lots, each representing the very last example of a permanently retired limited edition, attracted bidders from around the world.
This is the first time a Liechtenstein luxury label has entered the international auction market. The results suggest the timing could not have been better.

What Was Auctioned
The lots contained the final examples ever produced of three models from the Legacy Collection. These shoes have officially sold out in regular retail and are now permanently retired. Each pair is handcrafted to order in Italy using premium Italian leather, and delivered with a physical certificate of authenticity and insured express shipping worldwide.
Most notably, the Lian Palm I, serial number #25 of just 25 pairs ever made and the last example of this model in existence, sold for CHF 5,050, exceeding its upper estimate. The Lian Zenith I (serial number #25 of 25) also achieved CHF 4,850, likewise above estimate. The Lian Genisis I (serial number #50 of 50) sold for CHF 3,650, within its estimated range.
The auction was open to bidders worldwide. An anti-sniping system automatically extended the auction by two minutes with every late bid, creating an intense dynamic in the final moments.
A Milestone for Liechtenstein
For a luxury label founded in the Principality to establish itself on the international auction market is unprecedented. Lian Original was conceived by founder Lian Ospelt in Vaduz, with design originating in Liechtenstein and production carried out by traditional craft workshops in Italy. Alongside its regular collection, the brand offers strictly limited editions with global runs of as few as 25 pairs, forming a distinct category for collectors.
The willingness of international bidders to go well beyond estimate for this combination of origin, craftsmanship and extreme rarity is a validation of the concept and a signal that Liechtenstein is gaining relevance as a mark of provenance in the global luxury segment.
The Future
The success of this first auction establishes a permanent channel for pieces no longer available through regular retail. Each future auction will feature the final example of a strictly limited edition, ensuring that every lot represents a true last of its kind. Future offerings will also include atelier prototypes, unreleased colorways and archival design sketches from the founder’s personal archive.
